The State of Veteran Recruiting

Newly transitioned veterans are experiencing traditionally low unemployment rates; overall unemployment for Gulf War II-era veterans ranged from 3.6 – 5.7 percent throughout 2017.  These numbers may lead some to believe that veterans are no longer experiencing significant challenges with finding civilian employment after the military.  Challenges still exist and it is still important to understand the conditions that lead to the higher rates of unemployment that veterans experienced not all that long ago in order to ensure that employers continue to build talent programs with veteran recruiting and retention strategies not just so that they can order to continue hire military veterans but to also ensure that these strategies include the retention of these veterans in their workforce.
