Serving the Silent Hero: Military Spouse Recruitment
At no time since post-WW2 has military support been as high as it is now, but there is one segment of the military community still left behind; the military spouse. Even pre-COVID military spouse unemployment and underemployment was the highest among any similar demographic. There are also key reasons to support and focus on military spouse recruitment: 1) Stress, including financial, detracts from a soldiers ability to successfully compete the mission, 2) Military spouses hold the same skills as their military partners including work ethic, commitment, and in many cases advanced degrees, 3) As more than 70% of military spouses are female this recruitment focus has a duel value with gender diversity recruitment.
The session will focus on the following learning objectives:
- Developing a military spouse recruitment program
- Partnering with Military Spouse organizations
- Enhancing telecommute opportunities to support military spouses in consistent employment through PCS
- Identification and engagement initiatives for military spouses
