Engaging and Recruiting Student Veterans

Anthony Paolino will be sharing insights into this population formed from his time and observations as a student veteran, as a veteran advocate on campus, and then as a veteran recruiter.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding the Student Veteran Chapters – A general overview on how SVA chapters are structured, how they commonly operate, and some motivations you can think about while engaging student veterans on campus.
  2. Understanding the Student Veterans – A look at the demographics, majors, and performance of the student veteran population. As many companies deal with OFCCP or other types of internal or external audits, we will discuss how recruiting from the student veteran population also supports company initiatives like diversity and disability outreach.  We will also look at some of the differences you will find between student veterans and traditional matriculating college students.
  3. Recruiting Student Veterans – We will discuss some challenges, best practices, and strategies to build a successful student veteran recruitment effort. We will also touch on ensuring the appropriate employees from our teams are engaging the veteran chapters, what that looks like, and why.
